Highlights
Warren Y. Soper Clinical Centre Inaugural Seminar
On May 28, the JGH and the JGH Foundation celebrated the grand opening of the Hospital’s new Warren Y. Soper Clinical Proteomics Center. This Center was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Warren Y. Soper Charitable Trust. Jane Soper Kennedy, daughter of the late Warren Y. Soper, paid homage to the life and legacy of her father, who was a philanthropist and family man who lived life to the fullest. A successful financial businessman, he believed in giving back to his community.
In conjunction with this event, Dr. Christoph Borchers, director of the Warren Y. Soper Clinical Proteomics Centre and Professor of the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology at McGill University, hosted an inaugural seminar on Multi-Omics and Personalized Gene Therapies. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Gerald Batist, Director of the Segal Cancer Centre, and included keynote speaker Dr. Pieter Cullis from the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department at the University of British Columbia.
ASMS: Missed us? Catch up on our poster and talks!
The last month has been busy, where at ASMS we showcased our new found research through numerous posters and talks, and launching our NEW flagship product SysQuan
Easily catch up through Dr. Christoph Borchers recorded talk available on the ASMS app which introduces SysQuan. Along with the oral presentation, a total of 10 poster presentations were presented through out the week. SysQuan: NEW product, revolutionizing clinical, biochemical, and biomedical research at a low cost
Over the past twenty years, ‘omics technologies have transformed biomedicine, enabling large-scale studies of human health and disease through affordable genomics and transcriptomics sequencing and studying model systems. However, the high cost of quantitative proteomics, essential due to its proximity to disease phenotypes and protein-targeting drugs, limits large-scale clinical studies. Cost-effective clinical proteomics requires absolute quantitation to determine exact protein concentrations. To address this, we propose a two-fold solution: reduce the cost of SIL peptide standards using SIL mouse plasma as a reference, and increase multiplexing capabilities while decreasing analysis time. Our method, SysQuan, relies on the fact that 76% of human proteins share unique tryptic peptides with mouse proteins. This approach provides low-cost, quantitative proteomics data comparable across laboratories, promising advancements in biomedical and clinical research.
It’s a Perfect Match!
Evosep and MRMP signed a co-marketing and co-collaboration agreement to follow their jointly vision of bringing proteomics into the clinic.
While Evosep LC system provides highly robust and fast chromatography, MRMP delivers turn-key solution kits for absolute quantitative proteomics.
Both are the basis for clinical proteomics.
